Independence and limits

Disclaimer

Independent, unsponsored, and not affiliated with any platform named here. No page guarantees visibility in any AI search product, because nothing can.

Independence

This site is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or operating on behalf of Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Perplexity, Anthropic, Meta, or any other platform, product or company named on any page. No company named here has reviewed, approved or contributed to any page, and none has been given advance sight of one.

No page on this site is sponsored. No link is paid for or exchanged. No affiliate or referral identifier appears anywhere on the site. The author receives no compensation from any company discussed here in connection with that discussion. This site carries no advertising and accepts none.

Informational purpose only

Everything published here is general information about how AI search products appear to work and what the available evidence supports. It is not professional advice, and it is not advice about your specific site, your specific market or your specific circumstances. Reading it does not create a client relationship or a professional relationship of any kind, and no page should be treated as a substitute for judgement applied to your own situation with full knowledge of it.

Nothing on this site is legal advice. Some pages discuss crawler directives, licensing signals and publisher controls, all of which have legal dimensions that vary by jurisdiction and by contract. Those discussions are technical descriptions of how a mechanism behaves, not advice about your rights or obligations. Take legal questions to a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.

No guarantee of results

Nothing on this site guarantees, promises or predicts that any particular action will result in a page being cited, mentioned, linked or surfaced by any AI search product. No such guarantee is possible. None of the operators of these products document how sources are selected for a generated answer, several have said explicitly that there are no special optimisations for their surfaces, and the selection mechanisms change without notice.

Anyone offering a guarantee of AI search visibility is describing something the platforms themselves do not claim to be able to deliver, and the reason this site rates claims on evidence is precisely so that such offers can be recognised for what they are.

Accuracy and the passage of time

AI search is a fast-moving subject and this is the disclaimer that matters most. Product behaviour changes, documentation is rewritten, features launch in one market before another, and studies are superseded. A page that accurately described a product's behaviour when it was written may not describe it accurately today.

Every page therefore carries a publication date and a modification date, and those dates are maintained honestly rather than refreshed automatically: the modification date moves when the words on the page change, and not otherwise. Where a claim depends on a date, the page states the date. Check both before relying on anything, and verify current behaviour against the platform's own current documentation.

Research, studies and figures

Where this site cites a study, it names who ran it and what was measured, because methodology is where most published AI search research is weakest. Sample sizes vary enormously, prompt sets are frequently self-selected, personalisation and locale are often uncontrolled, and results are commonly reported without a confidence interval or a window. Figures quoted here are reported as the source reported them, and the reader is expected to weigh the method.

Independent measurement described on this site was, where stated, carried out on a defined prompt set within a stated window. AI answers are personalised and variable, so any such measurement is a snapshot rather than a constant, and a replication that disagrees is useful information rather than a contradiction.

Tools and vendors

Tools are named on this site where naming them is the only honest way to explain what a category of tool measures. A tool being named is not a recommendation and not an assessment of its quality. No tool on this site is ranked, scored, awarded or compared as "best", no page quotes a price, and no page should be read as a purchasing recommendation.

Tool capabilities and data sources change frequently. Where a page describes what a category of tool can and cannot measure, that description is about the underlying data available from the platforms, not about any particular vendor's implementation of it.

Scope

This site covers AI search visibility and nothing else. Adjacent subjects are covered properly on other sites and are deliberately absent here. The author's professional work is conducted elsewhere and is not described, offered or solicited on any page of this site.

Errors

Errors are corrected when they are found or reported. If a page here is wrong, the contact page is the way to say so, and a correction with a source attached is the fastest thing to act on. No responsibility is accepted for loss arising from an error, an omission, or a change in platform behaviour after publication.
